An optical disc type recording medium that offers an increased recording capacity and an enhanced security management capability for recorded program data. It has first and second recording areas with different recording densities and a third recording area provided between the first and second recording areas. The first and second recording areas are constant linear velocity recording areas, and the third recording area a constant angular velocity recording area. The second recording area is located on the radially outermost periphery and the program data are recorded in at least the outermost circumferential region of the second recording area.
