The display device (10) has a number of light-emitting elements (12) positioned next to one another along a radial line across the surface of a rotatable carrier element (14), with individual activation and de-activation of the light-emitting elements in dependence on the rotational velocity and rotational velocity variations of the carrier element about its axis (16).
