PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically limit the operational input of braking caused by driving, so that an actually applied braking pressure does not cause a vehicle to spin or drift out. SOLUTION: The friction coefficient (μ) of a road surface is estimated through operations from operational control input data and vehicle behavior data, and when the output value of the friction coefficient (μ) is small, the braking pressure (pneumatic or hydraulic) applied to wheels in response to an operational input applied to a brake pedal is limited to a smaller one. Thus during travel on a slippery road surface, the braking pressure can be controlled automatically without making the driver conscious of it.
