PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the feel of operating a horn switch. SOLUTION: An air bag device 100 comprises an inflator 7 producing a gas during collision, a bag 2 folded into place and inflated by the gas generated from the inflator 7, a pad 1 covering the bag 2 from its top, a case 3 fixing them, and the like, and is mounted in a steering wheel of the floating horn type such that a horn switch not shown in the figure is turned on and operated by the movement of the whole. The pad 1 is formed in the shape of an upwardly projecting curved surface, and a tear line 15 and a plurality of ribs 13 are provided on the back 12 of the pad 1. The rib 13 at the center is made higher and the ribs 13 on the edge made smaller to match the shape of the pad 1, while the rib 13 corresponding to the position of the folding part 25 of the bag 2 is provided at the highest position so as to abut to the bag 2. The bag 2 can thus be supported almost uniformly by all the ribs 13, and the feel of operating the horn switch can be enhanced. |
