PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the surface contamination of a building material obtd. by firing glass cullet, etc., by specifying the rate of water absorption of the building material and the surface rugged state. SOLUTION: The building material obtd. by firing starting materials including glass cullet has <1% rate of water absorption. The surface roughness Rθa of the building material defined by the average tilt angle of the ruggedness is <15 deg. at the surface of the fired body and the surface roughness Rmax defined by the max. height of the ruggedness is 250 μm at the surface of the fired body. The glossiness of the surface of the fired body is >=1.8% and the Mohs hardness is >=5. Waste glass cullet obtd. by crushing glass products and that obtd. by crushing recycled glass products are used as the glass cullet. The glass cullet is contained by 50-85 vol.%. Corundum, zircon, etc., may be added as a refractory compd. The particle size of the starting materials is regulated to about <=250 μm. The firing temp. is in the range of 850-950 deg.C. |
