摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure the oxygen concentration more accurately by forming a forward end electrode at a part of a gas contact part exposed to a measured gas within a specified range of length from the forward end thereof and setting the thickness of the forward end electrode within a given range. SOLUTION: A forward end electrode 11 to be provided on the outer side face of a cup type solid electrolyte 10 is formed at a gas contact part 115 exposed to a measured gas, in a part of a range from the forward end 110 of the contact part 115 to 80% of the length L thereof. Thickness of the forward end electrode 11 is set at 1.5 μm. The solid electrolyte 10 is provided, at the base end 119 thereof, with a base end electrode 12 having thickness of 0.5 μm which is thinner than the forward end electrode 11. The length M of the forward end electrode 11 is set at 0.69L, where L is the length of the contact part 115. High output and excellent heat resistance are ensured when the thickness of the forward end electrode is 1.2-3.0 μm, the thickness of the base end electrode is 0.3-2.4 μm, and the value of (the thickness of the base end electrode)/(the thickness of the forward end electrode) is in the range of 0.25-0.8.
