PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the particle size distribution sharp, by making an alloy that contains a heavy rare earth element and an alloy that contains a specific element excluding the heavy rare earth element, mixing the both alloys at a specific rate, and finely grinding the mixed material in an inert gas. SOLUTION: An A alloy that contains a heavy rare earth element and a B alloy that contains an R element (where R is at least one element among the rare earth elements including Y) are made. The amount R of the both alloys is set at 28.0-32.0 wt.%. In this way, the mechanical characteristics of the A alloy and the B alloy become substantially equivalent. The A alloy and the B alloy are mixed at a prescribed ratio, and the mixed material is finely ground in an inert gas atmosphere containing substantially 0% oxygen. The fine powder is directly recovered in a solvent without bringing the powder into contact with the atmosphere so as to slurry it, and a compact is obtained by wet molding in a magnetic field. This method makes the particle size distribution sharp and improves coercive force. |
