PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the disturbance in the orientation of liquid crystals, to execute good pixel division and to widen the visual field angle of a liquid crystal display device of perpendicular orientation. SOLUTION: The angle e2 formed by the inclination direction (e1 ) of a liquid crystal director induced by the effect of the electric field at the end of a display pixel 16 and the inclination direction of the liquid crystal director induced by the effect of an orientation control window 22 existing nearest toward the inner side of the display pixel 16 from the end of the display pixel 16 is set smaller than 45 deg. within all of the display pixels, by which the liquid crystal display element of the perpendicular orientation of a good rubbingless orientation is obtd. and the wide visual field angle and wide contrast may be embodied with the liquid crystal display element of the system.
