Fitting tool for thumb tacks

The fitting tool has a shaft (12,14) which has a flat channel (24) in one side. The channel has a slot (26) in it, open to the end-face. The measurements are such that a thumb tack (38) can be inserted in the channel from the side with its head in the channel. Force is imparted to the thumb tack via the shaft. The channel extends beyond the middle of the shaft by about half the head diameter of a thumb tack, so that the thumb tack takes up a position in the middle of the shaft.
