The engine has a cylinder ring (1) coaxially around an inner cylinder (2). The ring is enclosed by a fixed outer wall (3) and a turnable inner wall (4), which is also the outer wall of the cylinder. An upper and a lower stopper (11,12) on the outer wall fix the pistons (6,7,5,8) of one piston pair, and the pistons of the other pair are moveable against them. The inner cylinder contains a turnable control piston (9) with opposite butterfly wings (9a) on a shaft. Radially moveable blades (13) and the butterfly wings are intermittendly pushed into the cylinder. The rotating pistons of the pairs engage on the blades and transmit a torque to the inner cylinder wall to turn the cylinder.
