A program-controlled washing machine or dryer, has a door or lid closing device which features a locking bolt that engages in a trap. The position of the bolt is controlled by an electromagnet, the control circuit of which contains a door opening switch. This switch can be bridged by the operator in such a way that the door opens automatically at the end of a program.
