PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the wastefulness of printing by detecting a state of an ink jet head to judge the quality of printing from the detection result. SOLUTION: In an ink jet recording apparatus having an ink jet head 1 applying printing to a recording medium on the basis of the data transmitted from a host computer, an imaging means detecting the state of the ink jet head 1 based on the imaging result by an imaging apparatus 9 and a means 20 sending out the imaging result by the imaging apparatus 9 are provided and the state of the ink jet head 1 is confirmed from the imaging result before printing to prevent printing poor in printing quality.
