CLEANING OF WATER FLOWING IN SIDE DITCH

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve contact properties of water flowing in a side ditch with charcoal in relation to cleaning of water quality in the side ditch in which charcoal is utilized. SOLUTION: In the case of providing a charcoal layer 5 in a side ditch and performing cleaning of water flowing in the side ditch by the charcoal layer 5, plants 6 having good root swelling properties are planted on the charcoal layer 5. Moderate cracks are given in the charcoal layer 5 by roots extended in the inside of the charcoal layer 5 by the plants 6 and also clogging of the charcoal layer 5 is effectively prevented. Thereby, contact properties of water flowing in the side ditch for charcoal are enhanced.
