PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a water-base recording liquid which can form uniform, distinct picture images free from voids or dot disorder by incorporating a specific compd. having ethylene oxide groups into a recording liquid contg. a water- soluble dye. SOLUTION: This recording liquid is obtd. by adding, based on the total amt. of the liquid, 0.1-5 wt.% compd. represented by the formula: R-Ar-(P)n -OH (wherein R is H or 1-18C alkyl; Ar is an arom. ring; P is an ethylene oxide group; and n is 5-100) to a water-base recording liquid for ink jet recording contg. 0.2-15 wt.% water-soluble dye such as a direct dye, an acidic dye, a reactive dye, or a basic dye. Practical examples of the compd. are compds. represented by formulas I to IV. In addition to water and an org. solvent, a humectant, a solubilizer, an antimildew agent, an oxygen absorber, a surfactant, a pH-adjusting agent, etc., are incorporated into the recording liquid as required. |
