The flange is fixed on the engine head covering the exhaust outlets and has through openings (6) in a first part (3) which is fixed sealed on the engine head and which also has exhaust openings (2) each in open connection with the exhaust outlet of the engine. The through openings (6) are each in open connection with each exhaust outlet. The single or multi-part first piece (3) is covered on the side remote from the exhaust outlet of the engine by a second part (4) which also has exhaust openings (2) each aligned coaxial with the openings (2) of the first part (3). This second piece has a channel (7) or openings into which the through openings of the first part (3) open. A third piece (5) covers the second piece at least in part and has a through opening into the channel (7) or opens into a channel connecting the openings and formed by the third piece. Secondary air is supplied through an inlet connection (13) to the exhaust outlet. The third piece can either release the through openings (2) of the first or second piece for direct connection of the pipes of the exhaust manifold or cover these with coaxial openings to which the pipes of the exhaust manifold are attachable.
