The machine has a lower horizontal conveyor (10) transporting the cut-out cardboard panels between folding and/or gluing units (60,64,70,76) which is in the form of a roller conveyor. The rollers (14) of the lower conveyor are of identical circular cross-section and lie perpendicular to the direction of the cardboard panels's travel during the folding and gluing operations. The rollers, some of which are driven, are spaced along the conveyor and can be temporarily withdrawn from their working positions so that the spacing between rollers can be modified according to requirements. The lower conveyor is in the form of a series of framed modules, and the cylindrical surface of each roller is covered with a sleeve of a material, such as rubber, which gives an enhanced friction coefficient between the rollers and the cardboard panels. |
