The clamp comprises a U-section strip of a synthetic material which is pivoted to a file folder to retain the papers inside the file. The strip has rear (2) and front (3) sections, the rear section having an extension (5) at the top equipped with a molded pivot (13) and head (14). The pivot is inserted through a hole in the folder adjacent to its fold line, allowing the strip to be moved away from the folder for inserting or removing papers and clamped over its folded edge to hold them in place. The back of the clamp has a lengthwise groove (12) of triangular section to act as a hinge between the front and rear sections of the clamp.
