Electronic signature system for use with computer transmitter documents

The system uses the transmission of executable code with a document in order to provide a validation routine to ensure signatory's consent to document. The transmitter of the document to be signed sends to the signatory at least one program which is directly executable by the signatory's work station. The execution of this program includes a number of phases. The program decodes a file which is held by the signatory with the aid of a mask which it constructs by assembling portions of its own executable code. It then modifies certain parts of its own executable code. The program uses the results obtained to display at least one assembly of images. The program displays the document to be signed and invites the signatory to indicate one of the images in each assembly. The program then derives an imprint of the document and uses the selected images as an identifying key.
