PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To record an image on the both surfaces of a recording material in which the productivity per one sheet of the recording material is identical to the productivity when the image is recorded on one surface and the difference of an image quality between the both surfaces is eliminated while effectively evading the jam and the wrinkle of the recording material and image irregularity when the recording material rushes into a fixing means. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a secondary intermediate transfer means 8 secondarily transferring primary transfer images T1 and T2 carried on first and second intermediate transfer belts 2 and 4 with respect to the both surfaces of a recording material 5 in the area where the belts 2 and 4 are brought into contact with each other or they are close to each other and a fixing means 11 fixing the images T1 and T2 transferred on the both surfaces of the material 5. Then, the angles ofθ1 andθ2 formed by the belts 2 and 4 arranged and bent at an almost identical position on the downstream side of the transfer means 8 and the carrying direction of the material 5 to the fixing means 11 from the transfer means 8 are respectively set to be <=90 deg..
