The present invention relates to devices for cleaning the polluted surfaces of water stretches and for collecting floating pollutant liquids therefrom. This device for skimming petroleum products comprises the following members: a body which is open for the inlet and the outlet of the liquid to be treated; a working organ which is mounted on a frame; an enclosure for the collected petroleum products; a system for removing the crude oil film from the surface of the working organ; a drive unit for rotating the working organ; and a heating unit. The constituent surface of the working organ comprises a flexible sorbant material having a flat shape and consisting of a flat sorbant, while the body is made in the shape of a floater with a variable volume. The working organ may be made in the shape of a drum, in the shape of a flat-disc unit that comprises two transport systems arranged one above the other, or in the shape of a set of discs and star wheels or endless screws which are mounted on one axis above the transport system.
