the potentiometer resistance ratio is continuously variable by rotation about an axis. An essentially cylindrical vessel half filled with a liquid has two identical axial cover surfaces (2,3). The resistance between the cover surfaces varies with rotation about a horizontal axis. Each cover surface contains a circular plate, one (8) whole with an input connected to a high frequency voltage source and the other (10,11) divided by central insulation (12) and with output connections to a difference circuit
