Wet friction device with coaxial discs

Each of the carbon/carbon composition discs (30) in the assembly is located between two metal discs - a rotor or driving disc (10) and stator or driven disc (20). Each of the carbon/carbon discs is centred by means of a projecting bearing surface (14) on an adjoining metal disc interacting with the outer surface of the carbon/carbon disc. The metal discs are of steel with carbonised friction surfaces, whilst the carbon/carbon discs have a residual porosity of at least 15-40 per cent and are graphited.
