<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the production cost and improve the reliability by adjusting backlash formed between tooth faces of a gear despite of a simple constitution. SOLUTION: An electric power steering gear is so formed that bearings 4a, 4b are displaced in the radial direction of the axis in relation to a housing 1 by rotating an eccentric bearing holder 5 so that the shaft distance between a worm wheel 13 and a worm 30 can be changed to hold the backlash within a prescribed tolerance without improving the working accuracy of the both gears. If the tooth faces of the gear are worn down so as to increase the backlash, the backlash can be adjusted without replacing the gear.</p> |
