Storage box for X=ray films

The box (1) has a movable flap (2), which provides a light-proof seal when the box is closed. The flap carries one or more compartments for arranging different film formats. A mechanical or electrical locking mechanism holds the flap closed. An electronic device may be provided to prevent the box being opened in bright environments, or to generate an acoustic signal when the flap is open. Power may be supplied to the circuits by converting mechanical energy into electrical energy.
