Calibrating unit for a plastics blow moulding machine has a blowing mandrel (18) adjustable in a guiding plane (E) normal to the mandrel axis (A) on the calibrating unit. The mandrel (18) is clamped towards the rear end by pressing a face (74) of the mandrel (18) in the guiding plane (E) against a parallel face (64) of the base (30) to prevent transverse mandrel movement relative to the latter. Fluid pressure is employed to press the clamping faces (64,74) together.
