发明名称 FAULTY AREA ALTERATION PROCESSING METHOD FOR DISK ARRAY AND DISK ARRAY DEVICE
摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To evade the deterioration of response time due to the alteration processing executed when a sector fault occurred in order to assure and shorten the maximum response time for a disk array. SOLUTION: A disk array controller 20 is provided with a nonvolatile storage means 40, a sector fault detection means 22, an alternate area management means 23 which secures the alternate areas in the address spaces of the means 40 and a disk array and then assigns and manages these areas, and a fault information holding means 24 which holds the fault stripe information and the alternate area information. When a sector fault occurs, the alteration processing is temporarily applied to the means 40 and an alteration destination address stored in the means 40 is stored in the means 24. Then an alternate area is assigned to the address space of the disk array at a proper time, and the alteration processing is applied to the alternate area in every parity group.
