摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure satisfactory brightness and uniformize the distribution of light radiation by transforming an outgoing light into a form having long side or long axis, corresponding to the direction which has a larger allousable incident angle as opposed to a means adding image information to it, and injecting it. SOLUTION: After parallel while light from a light source 221 has been linearly polarized, it is converged by a first relay lens 24, and is divided by a first prism array 25 having a number of prism elements. When it is divided, its center turns into a peripheral part and they are superposed on the surface of a liquid crystal panel 29, then the peripheral part and the center of light become brighter and uniform. The beam of light is arranged so as to line up in the longitudinal direction of an aperture of the liquid crystal panel 29 by a second prism array 26 having a number of prism elements and has a form having the long axis in the longitudinal direction with a large allowable incident angle, and thus has few horizontal parts that are useless. The light enters into the aperture through the second relay lens 27, a diachronic mirror 28, a polarizing plate 29 which controls the polarization through voltage, and a microlens 3.
