<p>A liquid crystal device which can prevent the deterioration of the picture quality caused by the delay of the signal propagating speed at switching time, and by a load degraded by parasitic capacitances and parasitic resistances in the supplying routes of precharging signals and horizontal scanning signals. The time interval (T4) from the end of a precharging period T2 in the m-th horizontal scanning period till the start of the first sampling period in the m-th horizontal scanning period is set longer than the signal propagation delay time at a precharging switch (172) connected to a data signal line S1. In order to set the time interval (T4) in the above-mentioned way, the time interval (T1) from the end of the precharging period (T2) till the time at which the shift data signal (DX) of an X-driver (104) becomes active is set longer than the signal propagation delay time at the switch (172) connected to the line S1.
