A crushing apparatus (1) for foodstuffs, has a tool 911) that can rotate in a container (2), being formed from an output shaft (8) and a knife 933). The output shaft can be coupled via a coupling device, especially a hand mixer. Inside the container is located a separating element (29) which divides the container volume into an inner and outer region. This element consist of a tube-like middle part (30) which surrounds the output shaft. At the bottom, a funnel-shaped region (31) is joined to the middle part and limits the knife from the top. The separating element is designed as an individually removable additional part. It surrounds the output shaft concentrically.
