A pharmaceutical which is useful for prevention and/or treatment of amnesia attributable to an intravenously administrable anaesthetic, for example, propofol, and contains as the active ingredient a compound represented by the general formula: R<2>-CH2CONH-R<1> (wherein R<1> represents a pyridyl group, a substituted pyridyl group, a phenyl group, or a substituted phenyl group; and R<2> represents an optionally substituted 2-oxo-1-pyrrolidinyl group), for example, N-(2,6-dimethylphenyl)-2-(2-oxo-1-pyrrolidinyl)acetamide.
