PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a monodisperse powder, having high transparency, excellent-in UV protecting effects and useful as a formulating ingredient of a cosmetic by providing a powder, capable of forming a regular structure and having the UV selective reflectivity when coated. SOLUTION: This monodisperse powder (which may be any of an inorganic powder, an organic powder, a complex powder thereof, etc., and has 0.1-0.3μm average particle diameter measured by using dynamic scattered light, <=1.50 particle diameter distribution and a spherical particle shape) is capable of forming a regular structure (a crystal latticelike structure formed when filling a uniform powder, preferably a regular structural layer emitting reflected diffracted light) and has the UV selective reflectivity capable of reflecting light in regions of UVB to UVA preferably at 250-400 nm wavelength when coated (coating of a solid surface, especially a skin surface with a monodisperse dispersion and evaporation of a volatile dispersion medium).
