PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the air from remaining in an ink feed path when an ink cartridge is mounted, by temporarily opening the ink feed path to an atmospheric pressure when a coupling means at the side of a head is coupled to a feed port of a cartridge main body. SOLUTION: An ink cartridge 7 has an ink-absorbing body 42 formed of a urethane foam body or the like porous body stored in a cartridge main body 41. An ink feed port 43 is formed at a bottom part of the cartridge main body 41 to supply ink through connection with a coupling tube 24 as a coupling means at the side of a head. An atmosphere free hole 45 is formed in an upper lid member 44 of the cartridge main body 41. A valve means 46 is provided at a part of the ink feed port of the cartridge main body 41 to temporarily free the ink feed path to an atmospheric pressure when the coupling tube 24 at the side of the head is coupled. |
