MANUFACTURE OF CARRIER ROLLER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve tackiness and upgrade cleaning capacity by covering a rubber layer with an unvulcanized rubber and forming a tacky layer by means of vulcanizing the covered unvulcanized rubber so as to leave an unreaction portion. SOLUTION: A cylindrical rubber raw material is formed by press forming unvulcanized silicone rubber on the surface of a metal or a resin made shaft 1 for ten minutes under the temperature of 170 deg.C followed by a second vulcanizing for four hours under the temperature of 200 deg.C, after which its surface roughness is polished to under 30μm and a cylindrical rubber layer is formed. A tacky layer 3 is then formed by coating the rubber layer 2 surface with silicone rubber in a semi-vulcanized condition of vocosity prepared to five poise to the thickness of 100μm by a dipping method and a carrier roller is obtained. Thus the carrier roller with improved cleaning capacity is obtainable.
