PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an antihepatitis agent which suppresses the increase in transaminase value caused by hepatitis arising from endotoxin released from Gram negative bacteria by formulating Zedoariae rhizoma powder or its extract thereto. SOLUTION: The objective antihepatitis agent is obtained by formulating powdered Zedoariae rhizoma, extracts extracted with organic solvents such as alcohols and acetones from Zedoariae rhizoma or sesquiterpene compounds consisting of germacrone of formula I and curdione of formula II which are isolated and purified from the extracts as an active ingredient. As the dose of the antihepatitis per a person, it is effective at the single dose of 25-50 mg of germacrone and curdione, respectively, purified from Zedoariae rhizoma. |
