PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition having excellent detergency by mixing different types of aminopolycarboxylic acids in a specified weight ratio with a surfactant and a detergent builder in a specified mixing ratio. SOLUTION: There is provided a detergent composition containing 0.5-40 wt.%, in total, an aminopolycarboxylic acid represented by formula I (e.g. nitrilotriacetic acid) and an aminopolycarboxylic acid represented by formula II (e.g.α-alanine-N-acetic acid), both being present in a weight ratio of 100/0.5 to 100/10, 5-40 wt.% surfactant and 0-94 wt.% detergent builder (e.g. zeolite). This composition may further contain an enzyme such as lipase, an antifoam, a biphenyl-type optical whitening agent, etc. In the formulae, R is H, a 1-22C alkyl which may be substituted with a hydroxy group, a group represented by formula III or the like; R<1> is a 1-10C alkylene which may be substituted with a hydroxyl group or a group represented by formula IV; R<5> and R<6> are each H or a 1 or 2C alkyl; A is a 2-4C alkylene; n is 0-50; R<2> is a 1-22C alkyl or the like; R<3> and R<4> are each 1-22C alkyl or the like; and M is H, an alkali metal or the like.
