PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the operability of information acquisition by storing data to access an information source of user's needs on an IC card and making automatic connection to the information source through a public line network connection function based on the data. SOLUTION: A host machine 3 discriminates whether or not an inserted IC card 1 is at least a card for access of a specific server system to a server system to which access destination information is written with information through an ATR. When the inserted IC card is a card for access, the machine 3 acquires the number of a public line network of a connection destination server system from the memory of the card 1 and automatically performs an operation so that a line may be connected to a server system 4 of the other party destination with a modem 10 by using the acquired number. The system 4 to which the line is connected automatically starts specific application software on the system 4.
