PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To speedily form an image having a single color and an image having two or more colors and to simplify the control of primary transfer. SOLUTION: In an image non-formation area in the longitudinal direction of an intermediate transfer belt 21 on which toner images equivalent to images on two sheets of A4-size, normal size, can be transferred at the same time, two reference marks 27a and 27b for the determination of a temporary transfer position are provided with a fixed amount of space left between them. Also, in the case an image to be formed has a single color, a toner image formed on a photoreceptor 11 is primarily transferred to the intermediate transfer belt 21 based on the detection of the reference marks 27a and 27b, likewise in the case of an image having two or more colors. |
