The wind turbine is constructed with a vertical shaft (12) which carries several horizontal radial masts (3), in the form of a circle. At the end of each mast, are fitted two rods (2), to form a Y-shaped fork (1). Two rigid blades (4) are fixed to each fork, by means of hinges (6), which allow the blades to close together horizontally and then when the mast rotates into the wind, the blade are allowed to open to present the full surface area to the wind. The two rods fixed to the end of the masts are designated as return arms and each one carries a triangular sail (5), which lies between the return arm and the rigid blade. The sails are fixed on to the arms by means of pipes (8), which allow the sails to rotate around the return arms. The sails are so positioned and angled as to drive open the rigid blades due to the pressure of the wind on the sails as to masts rotate. Detailed descriptions of optimum angles for all fittings are provided.
