The method involves specifying the design according to functions, depending on variables, whereby the functions contain data flow and control flow information. A functional description is analyzed (43) according to syntax, to distinguish between data flow and control flow information. At least one local table (45) is provided, whereby each entry in this table contains the control flow information. A global table (46) is provided, whereby each entry in this table contains the data flow information and references to the local table.
