PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a melt thermal transfer ink receptive sheet having excellent gradation reproducibility of an ink image and recording density and pencil writing properties for use in a melt thermal transfer printer using a thermal head. SOLUTION: The melt thermal transfer ink receptive sheet comprises a porous ink receptive layer formed by coating at least one surface of a sheet-like support with bubble-containing coating liquid obtained by mechanically agitating resin liquid and drying it and having a surface mean pore size of a range of 0.5 to 30 μm, and an overcoating layer further provided on the receptive layer and containing pigment particles and binder as main components in such a manner that its coating amount is 0.1 to 4.0 g/cm and as the pigment particles those having a BET specific surface area of 20 to 600 m<2> /g are used as needed.
