PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject gene obtained from a cDNA library derived from the subject enzyme-producing bacterium on the basis of information about the partial amino acid sequence of the subject enzyme, useful for producing the enzyme for mass-production of such oligosaccharides as nigerose through genetic engineering. SOLUTION: This gene encodes the protein having the amino acid sequence shown by amino acids from No.1, to No.922 or from No.30 to No.922 of the formula, and having the activity of a glycosyltransferase preferentially catalyzing glucose transfer of an α-1→3 bond, or α-1→3 and α-1→4 bonds to a sugar receptor by reacting with starch and/or its decomposed product. |
