Traversed distance and/or speed determination method for rail-bound vehicle

The method involves using marks arranged along a path of a rail-bound vehicle for determining the traversed distance and the speed of the vehicle, whereby thresholds (SL) or rail mounts (SB) are used as marks. Two sensors (S1, S2) are preferably arranged successively in a distance to each other on the rail vehicle (F), whereby the sensors register the thresholds or rail mounts; the points in time of the registrations are stored in a memory, and a computer calculates the traversed distance and/or the speed of the rail vehicle under consideration of the stored times and the distance between the sensors. The distance of the two sensors is roughly as large as the average distance of the marks.
