The device has a housing (2) with air intakes (6), air outlets (11), at least one air cooling device (3), and at least one blower (9) to blow the cooled air into the storage area. The blower is a ventilator (10) i.e. a flat fan unit. Some of the ventilators have associated jet elements (12) for air jet guidance. At least one air outlet is formed as a slot outlet with air curtain function. The ventilators are carried on a separate, preferably pivoted carrier (8) under the air cooling device, which may be formed as a heat exchanger. A replaceable filter (7) is positioned in front of the air intakes.
