<p>A method of coding a set of data representing physical quantities, the said set being composed of sub-sets (fn), is characterised in that it includes, for each of the sub-sets, the steps of dividing (E2) the sub-set into blocks of data to be coded (An,m), and dividing (E6) at least one reference sub-set (gn-1) into source blocks, and then, for each of the blocks of data to be coded, the steps of selecting (E7) a predetermined number of source blocks (Dn-1m,1 , Dn- 1,m,K), from the said at least one reference sub-set, and determining (E8) a transformation (Tn,m) between the source blocks selected and the block to be coded.
