PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method that prevents incorrect measurement by specifying, for example, the material and dimensions of a proper electrode and can measure a molten metal level even when the molten metal level at an initial stage of starting casting fluctuates greatly. SOLUTION: In a device, two electrodes are immersed in a molten metal and a molten inetal level is measured, based on time when a signal passes through the molten metal for propagating from one electrode to the other. In this case, the melt point of the material of electrodes 27 and 28 is lower than that of a molten metal 14, spacing (d) between the electrodes 27 and 28 exceeds the double of the maximum amount of deflection of the electrodes 27 and 28 being caused by the flow of the molten metal 14. |
