CATALYST COMPONENT AND CATALYST FOR THE POLYMERIZATION OF OLEFINS

Spherical catalyst components for the polymerization of olefins comprising a titanium compound and at least one titan-halo bond, optionally an electron-donor supported on anhydrous magnesium chloride, characterized by a surface area between 20 and 250 m2/g, a porosity higher than 0.2 cm3/g, and an X-ray spectrum where the magnesium chloride reflections are present at 2 theta'= 35° and 2 theta = 14.95°, or where the reflection at 2 theta = 35° is substituted by a halo with the maximum intensity between 2 theta 33.5° and 35° and the reflection of 2 theta = 14.95° is absent. A catalyst for the polymerization of olefins is obtained in the reaction of said catalyst component and trialkylaluminium compound.
