The connecting branch (4) has an opening (8) for the especially metal pipe (10). A metal cutting ring (26) is positioned between the branch and the union nut (6) screwed onto the branch. The cutting ring for holding the pipe has at least one cutting edge (28). A thrust ring (30) enclosing the cutting ring rests on both sides against the nut and branch between which it is mounted. The side of the thrust-ring facing the branch has a contact surface (32) for placement against a radial end surface (18) of the branch. The union nut has an annular flange (20) with inner conical surface (24) for contact with the cutting ring and thrust ring both of which each have a conical contact surface (34,36) matching the inner conical surface.
