Measurement method for determining peripheral speeds of rotating rollers

The method involves pressing the running surface (3) of a rotatable measurement wheel (2) against the outer surface of a rotating roller (1). The measurement wheel is connected to a revolution rate measurement device (4). The measurement wheel is driven separately in a manner which minimizes the slip between the surfaces of the measurement wheel and the roller. The measurement wheel may be driven with a lower torque. The speed of the running surface of the measurement wheel may be of the same order of magnitude of the roller speed to be measured.
