The invention relates to a fuel injection system for directly injecting fuel into at least one combustion chamber (1) of an internal combustion engine. The fuel injection system comprises at least one fuel injection valve (5) for each combustion chamber (1). Said valve can be used on an injection section (4) in an appropriate locating bore (3) formed on the cylinder head (2) of the internal combustion engine, and having a fuel inlet (29) on a supply section (30). The fuel injection system also comprises a fuel distribution line (20) having a fuel outlet (27) which can be connected to the fuel inlet (29) of each fuel injection valve (5). According to an inventive embodiment, an intermediate tubular part (28) is arranged between the fuel inlet (29) of each fuel injection valve (5) and the appropriate fuel outlet (27). Said tight part can be movably connected within set limits to the fuel inlet (29) of the appropriate fuel injection valve (5) and the fuel outlet (27) of the fuel distribution line (20).
