The flexible conductive sheet material comprises textile reinforcement (2), with a physically-bonded coating of conductive material (12) on one side. This has a plane, smooth surface, which is reduced to minimal thickness. Also claimed is the method of making the sheet, preferably by applying excessive coatings to the reinforcement, then denuding them to the specified thickness. Preferred methods of removal include sand blasting, milling, grinding, chemical- or electrical etching, or spark erosion. Alternatively laser-cutting, electron beam or water jet removal is practiced.
